Philadelphia Art Book Fair was great I entered as a spectator and left in love. The show was around downtown with what it seemed to be hundreds of creatatives from all different backgrounds. You had illustrators graphic designers photographers and printmakers it was almost overwhelmingly so. If you didn't know anyone there you'd come out with at least a few new friends because it was hard to not talk and discuss with the people around you.

So the show wasn't structured like an normal gallery or art show because it a was a print and book fair festival. So unfortunately I wasn't able to stop by and talk to everyone but I made sure to chat up some of my favorite booths. Photo above is from an artist from New York her name is Xiao Mei and her printmaking work is simply beautiful. I say this in full confidents the women can really layer multiple colors seamlessly it was amazing to see how she creatively approached her work. Her dynamic was truly different then some of the printmakers I have seen. The pop of colors and the tonal values she decided to pick were perfect. As a viewer you can appreciate her cognitive decisions in which color goes where. Each print pulled me in successfully and I hope I can see more of her work in the future.

Sadly I wasn't able to grab a photo but her friend next to her was stunning the work was just as unique and obscure but in the best way.

Magazine by Half Letter Print/Temporary Services

Half Letter Print was a zine company that was very modern and a strange from some of the other tables. The magazines were really just like how zines should be not to much of a comprehensive alignment with the other publications. The zines were pure they were created with the importances of being created because an artist found a reason or just a need to create. It was different for all the right reasons and the owner of the booth was very chatty and talkative with everyone was too a liking into his works on the table. The disarray and cluttered table was the main reason I came to this booth because it felt like their was coordinated chaos on the table that I had to check out.

The publication I purchased was called suspect methodology it was about a FBI study based on eye witness testimonies and how to test these people. The study was interesting and elaborate so I see why an artist wanted to tell about this crazy theory the FBI thought of. The zine has modern and almost rebellious take on the story by cutting and cropping scanned portraits of men and women.

Zines by Manda Quevedo

Manda is an old friend and frequent artist I post about on my Instagram page and she never ends to impress because of her personal artwork and her company Quiet Pages. She was the original reason I was going to the book fair to check out her newest work and possibly buy a print. Her work is great and very verbal if I can say that because her photos speak to the viewer and entice you to turn the pages with excitement. I always love to check out her photography because of the fly on the wall talent she holds in her photos. She has been all around the us lately with her photography. Not too much to say on her works but they were amazing.
